It’s been a while since i’ve done a stack of supplements that has worked so well for me. My goal was to bulk to about 250/260 lbs. and then cut down to about 235 lbs LBM—and those extra 20 (from 220 t0 240) were pretty easy to add on thanks to the Cellucor products.

With the right diet and nutrition it took about 3 months to add the extra poundage; i stacked M5, P6, and N0 all together for the ultimate in muscle pumps and weight gain (previously it’s taken me 8-12 months to make quality gains upto 20 lbs).

If you’re looking to make gains, or bulk up Cellucor has the right products for you; a little on the expensive side but well worth each and every cent. Note that these supplements are not for the faint hearted so if you’re going to use them make sure that you know what you’re doing-the creatine especially will give you a hell of a kick.

For folks who might want to tone down they also have a set of weight loss series. I’ve never tried them, however i have a feeling they are will give you the results that you want.

You see so many people in the gym coming in day in and day out without making any progress whatsoever. Most of the time its a nutrition and diet issue, they just don’t eat the appropriate amounts of food. Having said that, supplements will always help you out—but please for heavens sake don’t supplement supplements for the food you need to intake.

I’ve been on a miss from Social Media and partial blogging as i just recently moved to the United States. It’s been about three weeks already so far and i’ve adjusted really well here in Los Angeles, California. I’m very excited to finally be back here!

Here’s what i’ve been upto:

Headed to Utah to meet a friend and check out the job market over there. It’s pretty sweet in Salt Lake City had a great time outdoors. As for the job market it’s definitely better then in California. If you’re looking for work and don’t mind the slow life in SLC you should check it out, all the big name companies are out there; Omniture, Ancestry, Novell to name a select few.

Alot of my time has been dedicated to networking and looking for work. You can catch me on Twitter or Linked In looking for a job suitable for me and talking to people.

Spending quality time with my family (my sister, my niece and brother in law and the dog Ziggy!)

Playing around with the Android API, yes i just picked up an HTC Evo 4G from Sprint. At first i was hanging out with my Blackberry but exchanged it for the Evo; all thanks to Sprint!!

Met up with some long time friends that i hadn’t seen for ages.

Keeping my gym routine going. Right near my house we have LA Fitness and the gym is pretty darn good. However i prefer Gold’s gym anyday. The ones in SLC were awesome, all 15 of them in one city. LOL.

That’s about it, other than that enjoying the sights, sounds of the United States. It’s like sensory overload for me here after coming from Karachi. Now that i’m somewhat adjusted I look forward to blogging more often! Catch you soon..

Facebook has been frought by privacy concerns within the past month. Some people have deactivated their accounts, or tuned up their skills to keep their profiles more private and restricted. However this post isn’t about privacy, or how to delete your account.

Personally i feel that you should use the platform (or any platform for that matter) and tools to your advantage instead of worrying about issues that you can’t really control. What you CAN control is:

Your privacy settigs. (once you’ve developed those skills)

You have complete control over what you share or post. Just make sure you don’t make anything public that you’ll regret.

Most importantly you have control over what you’d like to see in your stream. (Facebook doesn’t offer too many filters, but enough to morph your News Feed into a news aggegator)

Note: I’m NOT deactivating my Facebook account as the people and content there provide more than enough value for me to stay. Rather i’ve set up my account to receive news and updates from friends and news sites across the Facebook Platform.

I think you might benefit from this as well, and make Facebook a one stop shop for all your requirements. This is great for busy people on the go as well.

Step 1: Setting Your Signal Up For A Funnel Of News

Your first step is to add or as Facebook call’s it “Like” some of the pages you are interested in receiving news from. For example if i type in “The New York Times” into the search bar i get a return query of just that exact page. Now all i need to do is “Like” that page after clicking through. Note that by liking you are becoming a fan of that page. Similarly you need to repeat those steps until you add about 15-20 pages that are relevant for your news feed. Here are some pages that i’ve added that might help you get started with your feed.

CNN International

BBC News

Faster Times

The Guardian News

Telepgraph News

Harvard Business Review

Business Insider

The Economist

Again go ahead and add what’s relevant for you. This could be a group of friends / early adopters / musicians et cetera that you’d like to watch closely.

Step 2: Editing Your Home NewsFeed Options

If you’re reading you should know there is a difference between your Profile and Home feed. We will concentrate on the Home feed for now. Navigate over your home feed and on the bottom look for “Edit Options”. Why you need to do this? Simply because the Live Feed automatically determines which friends to include based on who Facebook thinks you want to hear from most.

Refer to the above screen -shot for help. In the “Show More” field start typing in the names of the companies / feeds that you’d like to show and then add them into the list. I’d recommend adding at least 15-20 for a firehose of content. Remember: Adding the pages to your profile by liking them in step one is crucial here or Facebook won’t pick them up in the “Show More” field.

Lastly adjust the the maximum number of friends to the positive integer 1. This will ensure a clean signal of news feeds without the clutter of your friends updates. Don’t worry you’ll be able to see all your friends updates in the “Top News” section of your Home News Feed.

All you have to do now is save your options and navigate to the “Most Recent items” (there is a difference between most recent items, and top news) in your NewsFeed. You’ve now managed to setup a news aggregator successfully on Facebook to track all the relevant news and views that interest you.

Most importantly you now have a clean signal of friends, family and NEWS to start discussing and liking. Why deactivate your account when @Facebook provides a plethora of content for your benefit?

It’s all upto you to use the tools correctly and benefit from them..

On the Economy

The Dow was shaken up this week with a 1000 drop in points. Was it Greece, No, a trading mistake, No…

The Greek debt crisis. The fall of the euro. The collapse of the European order. Debt contagion hits the market. Never mind that, important as the Greek crisis is, nothing whatsoever changed in the Greek debt situation at 2:15 p.m. It was the explanation closest at hand, and it’s the job of the press to explain what was quickly turning into the fastest crash in U.S. market history.

Let’s blame it on technology, no? Or was it the trader who entered a “b” for billion instead of an “m” for million in a trade possibly involving Procter & Gamble a component in the Dow.

….

Today, millions of Americans say that they believe that the United States is on the verge of a major economic collapse and will soon be entering another Great Depression.

Despite growing unease in the financial markets, the American economy is gathering steam, adding an unexpectedly large number of jobs last month.

And anyway, I don’t think I’m ever going to have an idea this good again.” Viacom (VIA) would try money nonetheless, with a cash offer of $800 million and provisions that could make it worth as much as $1.5 billion. But like many other suitors, the Viacom executives discovered they were dealing with a formidable character. If his invention’s early appeal was at a freshman level, exploiting the desire of college students to check each other out, his professed ambition was much higher: to change the world.

Excerpt: Sex and profit are the two things that never last long enough..

I’ve subscribed to a couple of mailing lists were i watch the tech satire very closely. A couple of days ago i noticed that i had automatically been subscribed to @Jason’s mailing list, and in one of his mails he goes on to mention the the “Ferengi Rules of Acquistion.”

If you’re not a Trekkie (and neither am I) it turns out Ferengi are a species from StarTrek that was particularly highlighted in Deep Space 9. Their religion is commerce and their society is determined by profit.

Here’s a little background i found over on Memory Alpha:

The Rules of Acquisition were a numbered series of aphorisms, guidelines, and principles that provided the foundation of business philosophy in Ferengi culture. They were first written ten thousand years ago by Gint, the first Grand Nagus. In the mid-22nd century there were 173 rules, but by the 24th century there were 285. Commentaries existed for the Rules. (ENT: “Acquisition”, DS9: “Rules of Acquisition”)

There was also a short-lived revised edition of the Rules written by Grand Nagus Zek after having his state of mind changed by the Bajoran Prophets. These rules were almost complete opposites of the original rules and promoted honesty and charity. After Zek recovered, he ordered all copies of the new rules to be destroyed. (DS9: “Prophet Motive”)

This is what happens when 5,000 barrels of oil pours into the ocean; turns out to be a disaster of epic proportions, and if the oil spill hasn’t been contained within the next 50 odd days it goes on to make history, becoming the biggest oil spill in U.S. history after Exxon Valdez.

Today i was reading through Kevin Kelly’s blog and i ran into a post: The 100 best business books in the world. While it referenced some powerful and persuasive books like Purple Cow, How To Win Friends And Influence People, I was surprised not to see Mark McCormack’s insightful and practical book What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School in the list.

Out of the hundreds of thousands business books out there, most of them not worth reading this one is a really gem, a true keeper. Whether you’re a college graduate or not, in it’s entirety this is the book has a little something for everyone at every level. What’s most interesting is the practical real life examples that Mr. McCormack refers to and discusses leaving you with unforgettable impressions and knowledge you can use throughout the course of your life, not too mention your business career.

If you’re a into reading for personal benefit and knowledge, you won’t be able to put it down till you finish and absorb all the golden nuggets of wisdom evenly distributed into 3 well written and concise sections; People, Sales & Negotiation and Running a Business. Valuable life lessons from a successful business man..

Reflecting back this book has taught me a thing or two about the practical side of the business world (which is exactly what we want to learn about). Even after finishing the book i can’t help but ruffle through the pages every once and again referring to my favorite excerpts on the power of silence, creating impressions and how you can greatly benefit from simple yet effective observations of the people around you.

Thought: Caterina wrote on her blog that “If you want to be an entrepreneur, drop out of college.” While her title is provocative I could conclude by saying if you’re going that route this would be a great book to start. Of course you wouldn’t want to overlook the rest of the 100.

Excerpts:

*The people who are least secure about their abilities have the hardest time admitting their mistakes. They fail to realize that making a mistake and admitting it-owning up to it-are two separate acts. It is not the mistake itself but how the mistake was handled that forms the lasting impression.

*I am pasionate about the game of golf. [truncated] Part of the reason, I’m sure is the range of emotions a round of golf can bring out and the complex array of personality traits it reveals.

*When i first shook hands with Arnold Palmer, I told him that I could make only two guarantees. First, that if i didn’t know something, i would tell him. Second, that when i didn’t know something, I would find someone who did.

*If you’re not going to make friends, resign yourself to neutrals and enemies.

*It’s the ability to delegate which, more than anything else, separates the good managers from the bad ones.

*Never underestimate your competition. I think a competitive spirit is essential to both personal and corporate business success. And how you stack up against the competition is one of the best yardsticks for measuring that success.

Note: When people ask Mark McCormack why he works over 90 hours a week and how he sustains such a hectic schedule he simply answers “I love what i do.”

Remember Floppy discs? In case you haven’t noticed (like I didn’t), Sony is actually still making and selling those discs. And believe it or not, even in 2008, the company could still sell 8.5 million units in Japan alone.
