K.E.S.C. you Bozo’s – Thanks PCE UPS

by admin on April 2, 2008

In the past few months here in Karachi, Pakistan there have been power outages all over the city. On average the city has no electricity for about 7 hours a day. Fortunately in my building we have a back up generator that starts about 4 minutes after the power cuts (talk about your basic necessities!!). I really feel bad for the folks who don’t have generators, which is over 95% of the country. Most above average homes have generators hooked up but have to start them once the power cuts off.

So when i am on the computer working on a project, or even worse doing personal work of my own (the stuff i really love to do) and the lights go it can be very very irritating. So irritating it gets you really upset and in a bad mood. Ok the generator comes on but usually i am multi tasking between the laptop monitor and my main 17″ monitor. All my basic programs are viewed off my 17″ like Flash, Flex Dreamweaver Photoshop while the 15″ widescreen laptop monitor is reserved for browsing or exploring. So the lights go, then what?

Think about the light going, then coming back in 5 minutes. Great Wow i can resume. But no then it goes again…and again and again in like 5-8 minute intervals. Sometimes it’s like the fucking assholes at K.E.S.C. accidentally set an infinite loop in their lame as framework (It’s really cuz they are a bunch of thieves..). Now that’s flipping recursion for you all – real time tho! Talk about frustrating! Thats not the worst part – my DSL modem is also hooked up to the electricity so when the lights go so does my internet. By the way these bozos here are also involved- WAPDA.

So I was forced to buy a PCE UPS today, so that when the electricity goes i can continue my workflow while the backup generator starts up. At least in the meantime i can continue what i was doing till the backup generator activates.

Ohh and while I was at it i needed some more space as everything was getting cramped up. Well not that cramped (my C: is drive is half free and the internal drives are about 80% used up. Thats not it the Western Digital External Hard Drive (120 GB)I bought about 8 months back is also almost done. Yeah i have alot of flas, flex files plus a whole lotta data and other tid bits in there. Part of that of HD is also reserved fro programs like Flex 2 + 3, Flash CS3 and some of the other CS3 names…

So i had to do it and go buy another one! I would like the my local PHP server to reside on its own partition plus i have alot of other data such as clients pics that needs some free space too.

Anyhow enuff of my banter. I really wish that they would solve this crisis. It really is a crisis, not as much for me but to all those poorer and under privelaged people out there in Pakistan. C’mon you flipping asswipes [THE GOVERNMENT] do something for humanity, better yet do something for your country for once instead of eating money.

Snap, the lights just went again right there as i as just about to hit the Save button!! Thanks PCE UPS…..
